A day after Jackson Tai announced his resignation as chief executive of DBS Group Holdings, speculation raged over his possible successor.


The names that came into the frame included former SingTel chief Lee Hsien Yang and Temasek's Francis Rozario.

Credit Suisse has listed four who could head DBS. They are Jeanette Wong, DBS' chief financial officer, Rajan Raju, DBS head of South and South-east Asia, Lee Hsien Yang, ex-chief executive of Singapore Telecommunications, and Francis Rozario, chief executive of Asia Financial Holdings, a wholly owned unit of Temasek Holdings.

Mr Lee Hsien Yang
Lee Hsien Yang is the Chairman of Republic Polytechnic. He is the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Singapore Exchange Limited and an independent director of the Islamic Bank of Asia Private Limited. He also sits on the Governing Board of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

From April 1994 to April 2007, Hsien Yang worked at Singapore Telecommunications Limited ("SingTel"). He joined SingTel soon after its privatisation and led the Company as its Group CEO from May 1995 till he relinquished his appointment in April 2007. During his tenure as CEO, Hsien Yang successfully led SingTel through a series of acquisitions and investments which transformed the Company from a domestic monopoly player into one of the market leaders in Asia. Whilst he was CEO, SingTel's revenues grew from $3.2 billion to $13.2 billion and its profits after tax grew from $1.2 billion to $3.8 billion.

Prior to his joining SingTel, Hsien Yang served in command and staff positions in the Singapore Armed Forces ("SAF") reaching the rank of Brigadier-General; his last appointment was as the Director of the Joint Operations and Planning Directorate.

Hsien Yang was a President's Scholar and Singapore Armed Forces Scholar. He graduated with a double first in engineering science from Cambridge University, England in 1979 and has a degree in Business from Stanford University, California.

Penny wise Pound foolish

I LOST MY HANDPHONE !!!
i was penny wise , pound foolish

on my way home from tuition , i ran for the bus that was approaching the bus stop , as the next one would probably in like 20 minutes time
PROBABLY when i was doing that i dropped my hp
then when i reach the jurong mrt station , i wanted to listen to BBC but OMFG my hp is not in my pocket , only the RAZER HP pouch is left !

i borrowed one guy's number to call my hp , not once but twice , got ring tone , no one picked it up.

then i rushed to tell the center about the loss , then i realised i have no idea which bus i took , was it 199 or 174..

i would have to call SMRT tml to report this loss

then when i reached home , i gave M1 a call
line cut off , new SIM card arranged , but i have 14 days to reconnect the new line.
police report made so that if that guy tries to sell off ... he will be known

Then still have to get a new hp ... i probably get a budget one , cos the only functions i want is to call / sms and radio , camera is interesting but not necessary at all

European Union commissioners have ruled that Britain can carry on using imperial measurements such as pints, pounds and miles.

The UK first mooted plans to convert to an all-metric system in 1965.

Mixed thoughts

Went to furama international buffet @ chinatown there the previous sunday.

Results from UOL is out !! passed and cleared every subject! Software engineering initially was posted as results unknown in the portal ... so ****ing scared.( cos fail = retake = spend $$$ ). When RELC send the letter , i just passed it =D
Now the decision needs to be made to take either ICP or MSM. Probably i will pick ICP as it seems to concur with what i want to learn , about the international market.

My wish list is more of for the students under me
Chunfai - recently pick up a dragon ball Z game , so i might give him something related to that
Nigal - pokemon ?
Joel - something related to DOTA.

as for Jeremy , Nic , Asraf and Shanwei , probably i would give something budget haha .. i thinking of getting puzzles for them to train their patience and analytical skills. any suggestions to any gifts pls let me know !

Been eyeing LCD for sometime le , 19 " and 17" the max native resolution no diff so probably wait for 20" non widescreen to drop below $400 then hoot ! =D

they unleash the potential within the child , gives them confidence and provide them with multiple techniques to handle variety of problems. The high pay and the ability to change people's life makes this a good option.
they have stringent criteria to filter out the half hearted / unqualified trainers leaving only the best within the organisation.

my critique : memory work isn't the only requirement in our day and age , critical thinking , in depth analysis , ability to correlate , see hidden causes and having a holistic vision is pretty essential too.

This doesn't work for every1 , eg. if the problem lies in the external environment (jurong area bad air , noisy mornings). Nor can every1 afford this , (around 2k initial cost for various courses , around $20/hour for the courses ).

This is good for those whose problem lies in their memory as they managed to instill 10 kids with gosu memory within a short span of 1 hour+. No doubt , most subjects/things you do would require memory work.

recieved a call from his mum saying his results dipped , sadded.
so drastic actions are taken to review his lesson plan and prioty goes to what his mum wants , to feed him with fish instead of teaching him how to fish (spoon feeding him). I told her the problem has got to do with his Maple playing and Tv watching.
I mean how can i teach him if his so weary when i come , hardly able to absorb any thing. but she told me that she can't take away his child hood pleasures of tv and pc.

farnee , i dun remember playing maple when i was pri 6. so what to do , if i dun follow her ways , she threaten to make that the last lesson. yea yea grades drop all blame me =O pregnant teacher who not make sure her subjects are properly covered when she's away on maternal leave doesn't play a role?
