Live healthy , Do no evil , Save gaia

25 years in the making , 1 day in the telling.

age 1 - 6 (1983 - 1989)

bare memories of this period , only remembering playing in the kampung and falling down and scar my left knee.
developed a love for chai tao kuey from this age when i moved on to live @ amk for a while.
schooled @ lutheren child care centre and only remember the final few days and the constant raids of the kitchen , and i think fighting with the kids there . those were the days.

Crushes during this time : chye tao kuey bananas and water melons

Age 7 - 12 (1990 - 1995) Chongfu 1G - 4G , 5A , 6A

Enrolled into chongfu primary school , this was a fun period.
incidents to note : played wrestling during chinese enrichment and fell. breaking my collar bone yet not telling anyone about the pain until my mum noticed that my shoulders are slanted.

i joined science club for fun as i was crazed by the bookworm series then , got the edison who always thinks his a scientist. collected 5 badges out of a possible 12!
i joined st johns for fun , i have no idea why i choosed to do so now.
did so many stuff to irritate teachers , including calling mdm tay mrs tay all the time , even when i met her out of school 12 years later

one of the biggest regret i had was when Mr lim gave away sweets in class and he was sick , so silly me co-related the sweets to his sickness and wished him " i wish you are sick all the time so that we can get more sweets" , immediately his mood changed for the day. till now i still dun remember why he gave out sweets lol.

Ms tan bee juat guided us tru from p1 all the way to p4 , one of my favourite teacher who doesn't give up on irritating me !

then there was the trend of journal / scrap books where people collected bio-data and phrases from other people
like "birds fly high , hard to catch , friends like you , hard to forget"

there was this pond in the backyard of the school where there were tadpoles and fishes in it used to scoop up with lots of tadpole eggs and store them in plastic cups

Then there was the trends of erasers with flags of different countries on it and we had these matches where you flip eraser with a thumb or finger over opponents to win that eraser over. Pure madness :D

Crushes during this time : xiuli when some alumni who crashed our lab lessons whispered to me that she is actually quite cute , then i realise so. Kept in touch with her but nothing happens

age 13- 16 (1996 - 2000) 1 - 4 E 4

enrolled into ytss , this was where i made some of my best friends. i was disappointed to get into ytss as it was my last choice , only 4 from my class of 6a got into this school , wenda , celine , xiaowei and me , subsequently celine got transferred out. i remember the 1st day where i felt so sad , then weixin told me to 脚踏实地which is to use your legs to step on solid ground , in short being practical , which i did.

i remember chasing alvin down a flight of stairs and we were leaping off it
i flew down a flight and clumsily landed on my ankle and dislocating it till you can see the socket . it was the 2nd time in my life i got handicapped.
after this incident , i start to slow down and think more and improve my grades.
my class was also moved from 4th floor to 2nd floor just for me . especially grateful to sooying that time cos i was never conscious of people who help me and take them for granted

during this period , i joined chess club and followed by playing magic cards , there were the rage !

my results peaked after studying @ nee soon east community centre

Crushes during this period : Wenqi , but nothing happens cos then she was with zhiyong , later on had a few dates with her , chat often with her on the phone , but when she say a guy in school was keen on her , i didn't make use of that chance to grab her , one of the biggest regret

age 17 - 18 (2001 - 2002)1s3 , 1s1 , 2s7

1st 3 months was the most volatile period , cos the results for A levels only come out later , so 1st 3 months is decided based upon promotional results
there was an influx of students from all over the island , so you get to see many school's uniform in a single school.
Changing uniforms and swapping them is often. i was even dared to swap with a gal's pinafoe or something like that , in the end i didn't have the balls to do so.

enrolled into yjc , this was when i lost most of my studying momentum , i got addicted to broodwars and even joined a clan called extreme massacre. still in contact with some of them till today.
i even took up computing and joined computer club cos i tot i get to play games when i do those lol . now i think i would have more fun if i joined rugby instead
the major change was probably in end of year 1 where i had to drop F maths as all my subjects cannot make it
till today , i regret not not studying but rather not playing hard enough then , man what a waste !

there was the ICQ and IRC rage then.
ICQ = I Seek you and IRC = internet relay chatline
ICQ = instant messaging while irc = channel speaks
i even remember my icq id till now 57997502 and irc nick ranges from boss83 to pokpokkeh . the name boss occured was bcos i saw this variety show and there was this guy smilling like a silly goose from the start of the show till the end , with a silly hair style , and a silly shirt , i was hooked. i came up with pokpokkeh later on cos there were many animals in my class , i remember erwin = ostrich , chongzhi = worm , timonty = prince , zhilun= mouse , kevin - sexy lips etc.

i loved to chit chat , habit brought over from ytss , then i talk and talk so much that mr tan my F maths teacher told me to get out , which i did. little wonder why i hated that subject subsequently.

crushes in this period : too many le lol there was this girl from bowen whom i oggle for 2 weeks then i offered an umbrella to her when she reject , anna who was close by was laughing non stop @ me

then there was another from chongboon one , i was bioing her blatantly for a few weeks but never took any action. Then her friend came over and ask , you want to know my friend is it ? i was shocked stiff and didn't know what to do. lost another chance !!

age 19 - 21 ( 2002 - 2004)

NS lor
best lesson learnt from here is how to say no from my mentor who i hate then but now think his the best person to have taught me anything indirectly
1st 7 weeks was bmt
then after that was posted to maju as storeman
but the chief clerk saw my background in computing and said no no no put him in CAI
CAI boy , computer aided instructions = play game + run away from responsilbities ! perfect !
but the slack times ended when the previous copa left.

regrets from this stage : i was troubled by lack of vitamin M $$$ and no future ahead , as i don't have a place in local uni. I should have looked around for options and perharps took a part time degree instead of wasting time . i should have heeded maruice's advice.

age 21 - 21 (4 years experience of 21) (2004 - 2008)
SIM lor
joined cca include : SRC - welfare , INC - investment club , FPA
soci was the biggest worry of this period as failing it 3 times would mean leaving without a degree , i failed twice and only passed on the 3rd attempt
imagine the estacy when i recieved the results and it showed pass

the other worry i had was finance , i had to finance the bulk of my education

so i worked in quite a few places
in chronological order

For Touch and tech ( marketing for some timeshare company ) pull people up to be put under duress and i felt bad about it but its huge money then as pull a couple = 40 SGD but i quit after a month

Then there was SCO , singapore chinese orchestra.
it was an eye opener experience as an usher. You have to stand truout the concert and then you get to wear suits like men in black and equip with walkie.
tho i got kicked out as i never turn up for one concert , i wrote the wrong date into my scheduler and didn't turn up.

after that i worked for starhub corporate road shows , Novita as a promoter , for comex , uob credit card promoter and last but not least , as a tutor upon weisin's recommendation.
its when teaching tuition to kids that i realise how tough it is to teach me , and i start to realise the problems i myself face. i grew a lot mentally by teaching.

SRC welfare was utter boring cos of the context i was put in
when i was went into the 1st day , i was saboed into being in charge of a project no one else wanted , a blood donation. the other 2 groups , sports and projects was like so clique but mine was in tatters.

INC was very interesting and an eye opener

FPA i joined it to really just watch the girl who lept tru time on the big screen

Crushes during this period : year 1 = weiling asked he out but ruined it on the 1st date lol , remembered watching initial D but when she asked me what i like about her , i was dumb strucked like in the movies. so gg-ed =(

crush on all sorts of girls in skirts lar too many and too sensitive to say now

But now I am at a transition phrase into the next quarter of my life. Do hope i will have a better life ahead

3 main aims in life now = Live healthy , do no evil , save gaia

live healthy includes eating exercising and sleeping healthly

do no evil is an idea after watching google's video , just do no evil

gaia on the other hand , is a long story but is basically a belief that all beings on earth form a large organissm , we are all but a small part of a single living being.

_______________

since 15 Dec 08 here is a summary of things done
course ended on 21st dec
had a mask party organised by angeline @ sam's place
met natasha and passed her ICP notes on 26th then went to andy's chalet
went to see the games yao had @ his house
the most surprising encounter = meeting mingwang and his mum while jogging
his now called raymond chia and working @ dsta as a researcher. recognised his face staight away and even chatted about memories then. as he forgot his keys and no one was @ home , we had to try to use a ladder to scale the roof and maybe enter tru there ( watched too much home alone haha) in the end , we just waited till his mum was home and she gave me some coins to take bus home but i just used it to buy drinks and walked home.
Tuesday my comp had a : product key invalid , so i went out to get funds and bought a 2nd hand mini pc 2113 2 gig 160 hdd 1.2 ghz processor. i suspect my old sata hdd spoiled so i think i might either replace the hdd of that old comp or sell off everything.
wanted to try ubuntu but apparently i can't boot up without the disc

went to countdown @ khatib for nye with trixie , weisin , valerie , andy , qiaozhen , soanne , rong hua , jo i think the cheese tofu was the 2nd best dish , prawns stil the best. there were insects and all sorts of flying adbomination @ the field area and it was an interesting experience.

after that we went to ginza but the place looked cheesy so we went to sembawang ktv to drink and sing.

thats all for today , tired and sleepy

Monday 15 December 2008

Xmas is coming !

Soon ! the festive bells are ringing.

the course @ dennis wee was quite interesting , particularly one of the event where we are given 2 minutes to fulfill the instructions on the piece of paper they told us to.
i am not gonna give out the details away online but in that short 2 minutes , i learn how to listen to instructions in a fun way =)

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=p0fOjXOwkVU

Manage to sell off a book for 15 SGD in a short time (cost price was 10 SGD)

attracted the guy with the phase " u know who is dennis wee" , then tcss a bit then his main objection i think was " what worked for dennis wee , might not work for me"
to which i replied "i agree that not all might work for you , but some might work for you" then he was convinced and bought the book.

Immediate short term target : to close my first deals and break the zero barrier ! ( like army like that lol ... )

Life is precious ... so play hard !

An accident so close to home , its scary
to people in yishun , do not sit next to this bench , people who sit at benches make sure its not next to a carpark slot !

ALMOST every night, Ms Nurliah Sulaiman would sit on a bench outside her Yishun HDB block chit-chatting with fiance Muhammad Anis Kamsani.

But their get-together proved fatal on Saturday night when a driver lost control of her car while reversing and rammed into the couple, according to witnesses.

The vehicle uprooted the metal bench and drove it back 10m before finally coming to a stop.

While Miss Nurliah, 23, was flung to the side, her fiancee was pinned under the Toyota Corolla.

Paramedics arrived at Block 221 in Yishun Street21 before midnight, but there was little they could do. Mr Muhammad Anis, 26, was dead minutes later.

Yesterday afternoon, just a few hours after being discharged from hospital, Miss Nurliah bade a final farewell to her fiance at the Muslim cemetery in Lim Chu Kang.

With her swollen face bandaged and her eyes covered by dark glasses, she sobbed quietly as she poured water over his grave.

Miss Nurliah choked back tears when she met The Straits Times later at the accident site.

'We chose this place because it was quiet and we had our privacy,' she said. 'I still cannot believe that this is where Anis was taken away from me.'

His younger brother Muhammad Faizal Kamsani, 24, said the family was at a loss over the accident.

'They were just sitting there on the bench, talking. We have no idea how the car could suddenly ram into them. Everything is a big question mark.'

The driver, a woman in her 40s, is assisting police with their investigations.

The accident shocked residents of the quiet Yishun block.

Mr Ahmad Redwan, 44, who lives just above the accident site, said he rushed downstairs after hearing a loud crash sometime before midnight on Saturday. He said Mr Muhammad Anis was pinned under the car and screaming in pain.

'He could focus for a few minutes but after that he starting slipping away,' he said.

Eyewitnesses said the driver was in a daze when she exited the car. She is believed to live in the neighbourhood.

Miss Nurliah was bloodied but conscious.

'Even though she was in pain, she was pointing to her boyfriend to tell us to help him,' said Madam Faridah Kamisah, 50.

Mr Muhammad Anis worked as a furniture mover and also helped out at a food stall run by his parents. He would meet Miss Nurliah after she finished work as an assistant nurse at the National University Hospital.

Miss Nurliah said they would then cycle together to a multi-purpose court outside her block to chat on the bench.

The couple had known each other for two years and were planning to get married next year.

BAD NEWS ON NARUTO

Crunchyroll Launches Major New Digital Distribution Partnership

Jap version : http://bb.watch.impress.co.jp/cda/news/23889.html

http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-388447/DATTEBAYO-will-stopped-fansubbing-naruto-shippuden-next-year.html

DB will no longer Sub naruto!

in summary : No more free naruto , pay per view on a low resolution medium ._.

This benefits the industry in the sense that there is now an official legal medium for world wide audience (out of japan) to view naruto. It also benefits other series within the anime genre itself as those who are unable to view naruto for free , would turn and look at alternatives to watch.

John Paulson’s Hedge Funds Return 19% in a Down Market
Posted by Deal Journal

William Hutchings, asset management editor for Financial News, provides this exclusive report. This is an edited version. You can read the entire story here.

Hedge funds run by US manager John Paulson, one of last year’s best performers and a short- seller of UK banks, have bucked a trend of worldwide hedge fund losses by making returns of more than 19% this year.

One fund generated 589.62% in what is thought to be the largest dollar return in a year from a single hedge fund.

financialnews Investors said the Paulson Advantage Plus fund was one of the best performers so far this year, with a net return of 19.44% for the year to the end of August. The fund made 158.75% last year and, through a combination of investment gains and new capital, has grown from about $100m (€70m) at the start of 2007 to almost $9bn, Financial News Online can exclusively reveal.

Paulson’s Advantage fund was up 13.22% for the year to the end of August, having made 100.15% last year. Its Credit Opportunities fund was up 12.95%, having made 351.72% last year; its Credit Opportunities fund was up 12.46%, having made 589.62% last year; its Enhanced fund was up 8.17%, having made 116.48% last year; and its International fund was up 5.17%, having made 51.7% last year.

Paulson turned a $500m investment in its Credit Opportunities fund into $3.5bn over the course of last year, considered by investment consultants and investors the largest dollar amount ever generated by a hedge fund in a year.

Paulson & Co. as a whole managed $35bn at the end of June, making it one of the largest 10 hedge fund managers. Last week it disclosed short positions in HBOS, Lloyds TSB, Barclays and Royal Bank of Scotland. It short positions, which will have made money as the banks’ share price fell, ranged from 0.9% to 1.8% of each bank’s market capitalisation.

Paulson Europe LLP, the firm’s UK subsidiary, did not return a call seeking comment. The US firm was not available for comment at press time.

You can visit Financial News at http://www.efinancialnews.com, and you can bookmark Deal Journal for easy visiting at http://blogs.wsj.com/deals.

The hilarious comments..

So Paulson has been making a killing betting that people would default on their loans for the last 2 years?
then telss congress we need to give him 700bn with no oversight to fix the mess he’s been profiting from, man this guy is good…

tell you what Paulson, how ’bout you use your money to buy some of these bad assets up.

Sure, those parasites are making money at the expense of real investors. They are betting prices down intead of ussing the resources to help companies. Regulators should tackle those criminals and send them to jail.

Comment by anonymous is an idiot - October 1, 2008 at 11:25 am

These previous two comments tell you how little the public and possibly even indiv investors know of whats going on.

They cant distinguish between John Paulson (the hedge fund manager) and Hank Paulson (the Treasury Secretary).

God..how far do we take free anonymous speech?

Please stop giving your silly idiotic comments….Palin is an intellectual compared to you bozos.

John Paulson and Hank Paulson are two different people.

100th post ! huat arrr

Yea ! 100th post liao !! huat arr !

on a down note , a return consultation to jurong medical centre revealed that i am allergic to dust mites. It has been the cause of my breathing problems for sometime , i am acutely affected by those pesky little things (level 3/6).

so have to take a puff to relieve myself of the allergy for the rest of my life , while keeping my room dust free. better to understand the problem and adapt my lifestyle to fit it , then to deny its existence.

went for a board game focus group for financial quotient on 25th sept and met some new friends who subsequently went to jog (27th), cycle (28th) @ ecp together with. also went to the run for hope 2008 (5th oct) recently. its a prudential group (peter tan organisation)lol.

went to ONEº15 Marina Club to see see look look , nice.

WEek 3

Interesting E invitation i received for my friend's birthday part =o

Visited the Ear Nose Throat specialist today.

Found out that my skin is ultra sensitive , thats probably the cause of my nose inflammation. then going to do a blood test to found out if i am allergic to anything else.

at least the nurse asks if i am paying by 11 B . i was like wtf ? then blushed for her praise of "looking" young . i bet she uses this technique everytime =p

the doc administered local drugs to numb my nose region before inserting a $80 camera into my nose . bleh felt horrible when it reaches my throat.

On the calender this week :

Thursday some prudential board game focus group for $25 =o

Friday : crash nageb's lecture for fun.

the new song is by 彭青 - 我只能爱你

it is a song in 射雕英雄传 (Legend of Condor Heroes). This series not bad one of the funniest 北丐 ever and chio-est 黄容. The fighting scenes are elaborate , the story plot is just nice 。 only thing is that their special powers a bit 夸张 ... but thats the story so oh well

TIP: How To Search and Download MP3 using Google by Huixian

from http://forum.clubstudio.sg/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=254

Just some tips i want to share..

This tip is very useful because it eliminates the use of any P2P or BitTorrent client software. Every computer should have a browser and any browser will do.

It's very easy. Just follow the few simple steps below.

1. Go to http://www.google.com
2. At the box where you search, type in this format.

?intitle:index.of? mp3 ***

The *** is for you to replace it with the artist and song title.
3. Click on the Google Search button.
4. Now you should see a list of all the websites that has the MP3 that you're looking for.

Here's a step-by-step example of searching for Beyonce and Jay-Z's "Deja Vu" MP3.
1. I visit google and type "?intitle:index.of? mp3 beyonce dejavu"

2. Here are the results. Not necessarily that the #1 result contains the MP3. Sometimes you have to try a few sites.

3. Found Beyonce - Deja Vu, but it's a freemasons club mix version.

4. Clicking on that link and it brought me to a site where I can start downloading the MP3.

5. Right click on the text that says "Download Now" and select "Save Target As" for Internet Explorer or "Save Link As" for Firefox. It will start downloading...

What are you do here is entering to a server and downloading directly from it. You can also specify a different extension such as AVI for movies, PDF for ebooks and etc... Just change the mp3 to the extension you're looking for.

if u're looking for english tracks, simply enter title of trackmp3
