the point of eating in small portions is hard to keep to especially with foods like char kway tiao around ... but prepare food from home and eat healthy non junk food like yoghurt,fruits every 3 hours or so. don't be bothered by other people's stare or poking fun @ your life style , if they do , remind them that you would probably be around when they are not.
as for adventist , besides eating nuts which is easy , the other 2 points is harder to adopt
a possibility is to leave like sunday for family and pay zero attention to work / switch off your computer / mobile phone(unless critical).
as for having faith , those with religion can immerse themselves in it. the free thinkers can believe in things other then religion that can let them escape from the harsh realities of life.

just went to get my specs fixed , cos i stepped on it when i woke up and the lenses popped out i pushed it back but the alignment zao le, its been giving me a headache and make my eyes pain for a week le.
then i ke kiang ( act smart ) go and ask to check for contact lens suitablity , then have to foot $26.75 consultation fee =( try on for almost 1 hour how to put in contact lens !
the 1st time i put in took up the bulk of the time.
got technique one ok.
then the 1st time i took it out , i used unconventional way , rub my eyes a lot of times then it popped out ! , scolded by the consultant lol.
the 2nd time was faster , but i still think its too troublesome to wear contacts , <3 my glasses
